"Can't remember when I wasn't interested in early American history. As a boy I sat many hours with my grandfather on his front porch. Hershel Finney was full of stories about the older days, hunting, trapping, fishing in Green River. Many stories he has heard first hand from Civil War veterans. He liked to relate the many adventuers in Arkansas. Everyone he met while hunting in the big woods there carried a long barrel muzzle loading rifle or shotgun. I had already built and repaired several muzzle loaders in the 1950s. One a rifle Mrs. Agnes Gibbs gave me. I hunted successfully killing many squirrels, ground hogs, possum's and an occasional coon!

After a tour in the Marine Corps I started building longrifles full time in 1967 and am still at it. (2004) I have constructed long rifles for several Kentucky Governors and collectors. Get the most pleasure building good shooting guns for many friends, hunters, target shooters, perople who will use them."
